Which is for me... The Original Cot or The Mesh Cot?
The Mesh Cot is 26" wide compared to 24" for the Original LuxuryLite Cot and both are 74" long. The Original Cot is 3oz lighter and will pack down a little smaller. Two of the Original Cots will fit inside most two-man backpacking tents; where two Mesh Cots are 4" wider and may not fit. Both the Original and Mesh cots come with 8 locations for attaching the Tension Bows. Both can be configured with 4, 5, 6, 7, or 8 Tension Bows. But 6 is the max you will ever need.
The Mesh fabric is woven with open pores to let water run right through. The fabric on the Original Cot is totally impervious so you could sleep over a mud puddle and nothing will leak through onto your sleeping bag. The breathable Mesh lets your skin stay dry in hot weather while rain or spills drain through instantly. Moisture does not soak into the fibers for either fabric. Easy to clean... just blast with a hose and shake dry. The Mesh fabric is NFPS-701 fire retardant so it's safe near fires or camp stoves. The fabric on the Original Cot is not fire retardent. The Mesh Cot has 11 parts inside the carry bag and you can put it together only one way. The Original Cot has 31 pieces so you can customize the 6 tension bows to use single or double tubes. A backpacker can customize the Original Cot down to 2 lbs. The weight of the Mesh Cot can't be reduced.
